@pluralistic "Your writing better not accidentally conform to an arbitrary list of reasons why joyless dorks won't let anyone enjoy anything anymore!"

Actually, can meta-commentary about joyless dorks attempting to rain on everyone's parade be made a "trope" now too so they'll stop doing it? (maybe?)

More and more websites have anti-adblock measures these days, some going so far as to tell you to uninstall your ad blocker altogether. I understand the impulse, but you are basically telling your users to meaningfully reduce their security for your benefit.

And... just like that, I'm back to masking in ALL stores indoors, and am thinking about outdoors, because an entire family in my personal sphere just turned up COVID positive (after visiting a sick relative in the hospital, and the relative ended up being there because of COVID-19)

Eh, crap, re-implementing stricter personal COVID-19 measures after just relaxing them, an (entire) family I know with COVID or recovering, after catching it from an older relative who was hospitalized--they later figured out, COVID-19. (ie Once again, moving back to "all indoor interaction in public N95" -- pondering where I'll go with outdoor in crowds.). #covid19

@TonyYarusso @ai6yr @pleia2 OOOOOOOoo thank you!
@ai6yr Enshittified google was no help ether, the "closest" repair shop was marked "permanently closed" (then why list it?!) and the street view shows the building bashed down and a Lidl in its place. Oh well time to learn a skill I can use to barter for caps I guess

@ai6yr I should dig out my grandparents' typewriter, thanks.

All I know is that it was put away when my grandma couldn't reliably find any ribbons for it, and at some point its innards got real gummy. In the good old days you could just take it down the street to the typewriter repair shop but I suppose I'm going to have to learn how to do it myself.

Come to think of it, I don't know if ANY response to any cyberattack involved full transparency from the victim.

Oh well, one of the benefits of doing mostly digital is that you can upload your massive .adif logs to any number of websites (and you should!) for redundancy.

I'm sorry, when someone says "This is not an issue with Y" when Y is down, I don't believe them, especially if they've had problems with being sufficiently transparent in the past.

Pro tip: stop putting cheese on your broccoli. Instead

Put hollandaise sauce on it.
