My apologies for not being on here more often. I've been whelmed over, lol. Have a sleepy kitten.

I've been on #Mastodon since 2017 but never did a proper #introduction. I'm Joanne M. Austin and I'm a #writer and #editor. I am currently senior editor at #WeirdNJ magazine. I have a corporate day job where I also write, but prefer to save that subject matter for the office. I love #Folklore and #Horror (and #FolkHorror) but also love #NatureWriting, #Gardening, #Octopuses and #Mycology. I'm a terrible #Procrastinator and spend too much time on social media.

Buy books directly from authors and you get book mail like a signed copy of "The Hag Witch of Tripp Creek" by Somer Canon (gorgeous cover by Lynne Hansen) plus a chapbook coauthored by Wesley Southard and a fun pen and thank you note.

PS: Loved the book. Starting on the chapbook!

New doggo in the house (okay, she's been here for a little while).

Meet Ginger. She is 3 1/2 and came with her name.

Hey @nicolewolverton when can we start to preorder A Misfortune of Lake Monsters?

A conversation I had on Tw*tt*r today reminded me of my childhood non-experience with a notorious serial killer:

It's Christmas so here's an old tree in my town that was known as the Winnie the Pooh Tree because it had a giant hole in the bottom that you could hang out in, if you didn't mind sharing the space with creepy-crawlies. A friend reports that it has now fallen.
