I needed a better reading lamp for the family room. After looking online, I realized I didn't need to buy something new. I swapped it out with another lamp in my office that doesn't see much use.

That got me thinking about my grandparents' (both sets) homes. When I look at photos spanning decades, most of the same stuff was there. TV, radios, lamps, clocks, etc.

It was partly economic necessity, but there was also an idea that you don't throw everything away. We need that ethic today.

A photo I took of an eastern chipmunk this morning in my garden. These guys are so difficult to capture since they are so fast and twitchy! I was lucky this one stayed still long enough for me to get a few snaps.
