What makes the story personal to a reader? If set in a common place like the kitchen or the porch, what are the emotions at play? Look at the place from different perspectives. With a setting so immersive and inseparable, a reader can’t imagine the story happening in another place. I’m seeing a number of people on Twitter saying they don’t want to come to Mastodon because it “doesn’t have” certain features (it often does, in fact, have said features, they just haven’t looked properly) and it’s a lot of small child “but I don’t wanna put my shoes on!” energy.

Look, I get it, shoes can be a bit toe-squashy, BUT they also stop you getting stabbed in the foot.

@Portybelle Welcome! Nice to see you here 🥰

Hello! Like many people, set up an account here just in case it all goes to pot on Twitter! Most likely to find me on Twitter for now sharing the #booklove.

I'm a #bookblogger reading and reviewing mostly contemporary, uplifting fiction with a bit historical fiction every now and then.

🚨 Last two places! One *free* place to a writer who needs it!

Hello! I'm a writer (yes, another one) and lover of history, books, art, animals, and all things dark and spooky. 🖤

I'm also a writing coach and a solicitor working with victims of crime.

When I've worked this place out, I'll mainly be posting about #books #writing #weirdhistory and #gothic stuff. Oh, and #cats.

From @ramblingsloa on Twitter:

If you made a mistake, apologize
If you are thankful, say it
If you are confused, ask questions
If you learn something, teach it
If you are stuck, ask for help
If you are wrong, admit it
If you can unselfishly give, give
If you love someone, tell them, now.

Hi #MastoWriters !
Today is a simple question: are you a plotter or pantser? Or somewhere in between? We love all writers in this community, and whatever works for you is best, so let’s not argue on which is superior and just celebrate what works! #writing #writer #author
