Dear Microsoft. Here is a list of things I want the Start Menu to do:

* Show my installed programs
* Search my local files
* Provide access to system settings

Here is a list of things I do *not* want the Start Menu to do:

* Show the weather for a randomly-selected town near my network's public IP infrastructure
* Show tabloid headlines
* Show programs I *don't* have installed
* Search the web via Bing
* Show adverts(!)
* Attempt to engage me in conversation with a hallucinating LLM

Thanks.

From my ongoing series of animals in a German shelter...

My old Fed instance was deleted.

Here I am again!

I feel like every web site with a “Keep Me Logged In” checkbox should have a FAQ entry titled “Why Doesn't The ‘Keep Me Logged In’ Checkbox Keep Me Logged In,” and the answer should be “Because we hate you.”
I... I don't wish to alarm anyone, but these things will be 25 years old in August this year
Hankin vihdoin tämän sielulleni täydellisesti sopivan muumimukin. Ainut vika (yleisesti muumimukeissa) on sen pienuus. Ei alkuunkaan riitä tilavuus. Keitän kuppi kerrallaan, joten tällä on merkitystä. Mutta on se niin hieno sielunmaisema, että annettakoon anteeksi.

The number of active Mastodon users — those who've logged in in the last 30 days — has fallen to 1.8 million from a high of 2.6 million. This reflects the fact that while there's a wave of new users after each Musk tantrum, the majority aren't sticking around. Even the 1.8M figure is inflated by new accounts, so I expect a further drop.

Still, the number of active users is over 4 times what it used to be before the Twitter takeover.
