Gentle refugee from the other service (@zenbabesque). Looking to splatter my eyes (and your eyes, via boosts) with #art #music #blues #arthistory #philosophy #astronomy #humor and of course a little bit of news. I'm an utter treehugging liberal who also enjoys sarcasm and snark. Glad to be here!

@cambraca @rwba @stevewfolds @Imprint @grbenny @terjefjelde Quite. McDonald was like a bridge between the early Doobie’s twang and the smooth sounds that were his signature. No wonder he collaborated with Steely Dan, Kenny Loggins, and many others. Plus, he’s always coming up with new variations on his own songs.

@grbenny @terjefjelde @muz4now @rwba @Imprint Met an instrument repair man ~ 1980. His teacher had started him off easy with a Tuba bell casually tossed down a flight of hard stairs. Think of him when I hear distant marching bands.
Stepson had a Contrabass trombone made. Gifted it to his conservatory on graduation. Decades later it’s in his possession again. He’s the Dean. :)
Hey, do you stream your music? Yes!

@rwba @[email protected] @stevewfolds @muz4now @Imprint I think the intensity of a lot of 70s and 80s jazz/fusion is a bit too much for many modern ears - both the music, and maybe the sound as well, especially as it gets colder and brighter into the 80s.

I heard someone's kid describe '80s David Sanborn as a screeching nightmare (which I kind of get, if it was the "A Change of Heart" LP!) But my kids (13 to 19) like cozy "café jazz" – and pre-fusion jazz goes down pretty well.

And now for something completely different. Osamu Kitajima is a Japanese musician who does an unusual blend of Japanese traditional instruments with western acoustic and electric instruments resulting in Japanese flavoured funk fusion/ jazz fusion/ progressive rock infused with Japanese spiritual overtones.

Hope you like it.
