The aim of politics is to give workers the courage and security to be able to tell the boss and the landlord to fuck off.
As we stand in line
at the grocery store
the woman behind me
regales me with the story of
how long she masked for
how early she was vaccinated
how regularly she tested
I can tell she expects praise
but as I look at her maskless face
I just want to ask her
what she’s doing now.
"I heard my mother asking the neighbors for salt." But we had salt in the house. I asked her why she was asking the neighbors for salt. Because our neighbors don't have a lot of money and often they ask us for something.
I also ask them for something small and inexpensive, so that they feel that we need them too. This way they will feel more comfortable to keep asking us for everything they need."
Respect for human dignity is undoubtedly one of the noblest feelings. Author Unknown.
@micchiato I get that republicans are worse but I’ve spent my whole adult life voting for democrats in the hope that they’ll follow through on any number of issues they campaign on but they never follow through. They can only keep coasting on "the other side is worse" while doing nothing. Eventually people are going to abandon them.
This is priceless and ballsy…bravo John Oliver #clarencethomas

A well-off family in #Seattle, who bought or refinanced $600k for a home in the low, low-rate 3% era of 2020, is today paying just $1400/mo, or $46/day, in bank interest to stay housed.

A renter today would have to pay the landlord $3000+ ($100+/day) for the same privilege.

A housing-insecure family may be in and out of a motel, paying $100-$150/day.

Does this seem right to you? #HousingNow

holy shit
Have a happy Tuesday. Today I'm doing nothing because I started doing it yesterday and I wasn't finished.
I'm no quitter.

Welp.

(though I'd say that, for the people doing the buying, the price is barely pocket change)
