A microblog of stuff in my life. Sort of a journal. As much for my own use as anyone else's, but I might as well pseudonymously make use of the platform.

Sorry to hear about the #DoctorWho hiatus. I had far less problems with recent years than some more, um, outspoken fans, but I could also had a sense of drifting and uncertainty as to future directions.
The big risk here is that, breaking the continuity of episodes (more than the micro-seasons have) leaves the door open for someone to do something really ... unfortunate with the franchise.
We shall (eventually) see.
Oof. Had #HVAC folk out to check and tune the a/c. Their answer is "Your unit is 22 years old, here's $1800 in repairs it needs or you should actually replace it with a $17-20K unit."
These are reputable folk, though I am going to get a 2nd opinion. The age of the unit is accurate, though, so ...
Oof.
Taking cat to the #veterinarian today. We have serious concerns from some testing last week that it might be cancer that has been causing her health decline over the past number of weeks.
I worry it is the last trip for her.
I've lost too many figures in my life over the last year.
My mom passed away a month or so ago. I've been so tied up with funeral prep (and our vacation), it's not really processed in my brain.
But I've missed not texting her notes and photos from our trip.
And today someone asked me how my folks met and started dating and how Dad proposed -- and I realized I don't know the answers to that and so, likely, never will. Which is a #sadness.
Taking the #taxi for nearly everything has been an interesting experience for someone who didn't grow up in taxi culture.
Drivers here in #Italy don't expect a tip, but they do prefer cash to credit cards (due to fees, I assume); how hard they will press with that varies.
One advantage to taxi apps is that you can pay through them.
If a taxi driver offers to drive you by an ATM so you can pay him in cash ... find another taxi. 3/3
#Fiumicino is not designed around this idea, starting with having to track down where the #taxi lines are, fend off the "helpful" drivers happy to help, if we pay cash, to tracking down the *internal* line to the taxi area (which was inside the secure area for baggage claim, but we were told to ignore the sign, so we did), then wait in the very long taxi line..
.
But we got a taxi (that did not demand cash) ! Yay!
