#NowPlaying Ry Cooder - Chicken Skin Music.
Something relaxing from the #usa. Nice music, which I have not listened to too much. I guess it’s #blues with some #Americana mixed in. Good solid album.
You can hear why Ry’s Buena Vista Social Club project was such a success. He knows how to make great sounding music.
I bought this album based on the cover. I think it is really funny and light. A bargain for €10.

Kind of feels right in this time and age. I’m a little too young to know why this was a thing when #Reagan was elected, but the track is from 1981. I’ve added the lyrics as a photograph for your own interpretation.
The b-side is titled: The Decline of the West. There’s not much to say about this, since it’s an instrumental track. The title says enough.
#NowPlaying Los Angeles by #LolTolhurst #Budgie and #JacknifeLee. Basically a kind of a super band, because also #JamesMurphy of #LcdSoundsystem, #BobbyGillespie of #PrimalScream and #TheEdge of #U2 collaborate. (I hope I’m using enough #hashtags here 😉)
Because it is basically an album made by drummers, it’s very rhythmical. Danceable even. Good music, with a message here and there. It’s quite seldom that original music is created by people of a certain age (in my opinion). Underestimated.

I used to listen to this album quite a bit, 30 or so years ago on cd. This a very nice #vinyl release from 2021. Great that they do this for epic albums like this.
Basically it’s drums, bass and saxophones of sorts. In rock. I really dig it.
Listen to it, if you may have been listening to #Deadletter. The also have a sax in the mix, although not as prominently.
Sadly Mark Sandman passed to The Other Side.

#TheHawkIsHowling could be some American hashtag during the #elections, but it is the title of an album by #Scottish band #Mogwai. Completely instrumental. Luckily the track titles give you some hints about what it’s about. Well, do they? “I’m Jim Morrison, I’m Dead” is quite mellow so that makes sense. Other titles are less obvious, like “The Sun Smells Too Loud”. Nice.
#NowPlaying After the watching 9 hours or so documentary Get Back, I got enthusiastic about the #Beatles Let it Be album. I never realised it basically is a live album. Or at least meant to be. Some tracks on it are from their legendary roof top concert.
What I particularly came to appreciate is it being less pretentious. In some way this last album returns to how they started out. Joyful.
I did not own the album, so I bought a new copy. The 2021 reissue. Sounds great.

#Nowplaying #PinkFloyd - wish you were here. I am not a big Floyd fan, but every time I listen to their music I’m impressed. It’s very well made, and thoughtful. I guess the only weak point is the singing. Is Roger Waters doing the voices? The sleeve is clueless. Anyway, I enjoy it nonetheless.
I like this album better than Dark Side of the Moon. It’s got more soul. Not that’s soul music, you get my meaning.
Listening to #BobDylan - Desire. Amazing record! The first track is about some crime, from what I can make of the extensive lyrics. #JimiHendrix’s (cover) Hey Joe is an easier crime, and also an opening track. Wondering if it is Joey is a reference to Joe. I’ll try to pay close attention to the lyrics. I guess Dylan was a mystic child, just like Isis. I’m rambling. Maybe I need one more cup of coffee. Or go to Mozambique.
I just released a new version of #SmashTunes from the camp site in #France. I might call this release #Vanoise 😉 This version was ready for 2 months, but was not released pending a quota extension for the #Spotify API. It took the Spotify two months to grant me the extension.
Anyway, you can now like tracks via SmashTunes (optionally trough hot keys). Just continue whatever you’re doing, saving you a trip to the Spotify #macOS app.
