uuuh hello?

In Poli Sci, I did not feel I was disadvantaged necessarily, but I was, and we foreign students were, disadvantaged---we studied, taught, and wrote in English. Every time my English-speaking academic friends make a big deal out of giving a talk in another (their research) language, I bite my tongue. Em. Yea, right.
🏆 Call for nominations for the #ASA2023 #CBSM Distinguished Early Career Award for an early career scholar of color making contributions to the study of social movements, either assistant or associate level. Self-nominations welcome! Deadline 3/1.

Hey #postdoc or other early career folks:

Do you have any advice or online resources for project management (e.g. building & organizing a new lab, coordinating work, documentation, etc.)? Documents? Trainings?

I'm really enjoying my #Sunsama and #Clickup software but I'm struggling with the "meta" information like what tasks a lab lead will need to consider.

Bonus points for resources with #neurodivergent / #ADHD focus. ❤️

In case you missed it, you do not need to use the official Mastodon app! Third party Mastodon apps tend to have more features, and many people prefer them.

Mastodon uses free open source technical standards, so all apps have equal access to all of Mastodon's features.

There are lots of third party Mastodon apps, here are a few examples to get you started:

If you're on Android, try Tusky, Fedilab or Tooot

If you're on iPhone/iPad, try Toot!, Ice Cubes or Ivory

Critics have described Carter’s foreign policies as 'ineffectual and 'hopelessly muddled'....

As a historian researching Carter’s foreign policy initiatives, I conclude his overseas policies were far more effective than critics have claimed."

Plenty of boring ways to explain my research topic & why it motivates me to get out of bed every morning. Here’s a more interesting way though, thanks to Tami Amanda Jacoby (2015): “the construction of grievance-based identity is a fundamentally contested process as the lines between victim and perpetrator are blurred by ongoing cycles of belligerence and retribution”.

Now you know. 🔥✨

Just a reminder - 2FA authentication is available on Mastodon instances, for everyone, for free, and we recommend you use it.
I'll put my #Caturday drawing on pause now (or on paws, hehe!) before I mess it up with too much fiddling.
