HAPPY BIRTHDAY GW170817!

I didn't have time to make new art, and other accounts are already doing a great job of posting about the science-y parts, so instead I'll post my BNS-inspired art 😊

I find it incredible that the Organic Chemistry textbook I learnt from many moons ago in University is now freely available via OpenStax! This was the first textbook I read from cover-to-cover, devouring the problem sets at the end—and was the beginning of my love affair with the central science.

What a great boon to the chemistry education community, and a wonderful way to honor John McMurry’s son. #Chemistry #Chemiverse

Some of the best academic advice I ever got was "A paper is never really done, at some point you just have to set it free."

And yet...I find myself with a nearly-done paper that I just keep making more and more plots for! Someday I'll set it free, but not today, apparently.

Now also at @hpearnshaw.bsky.social. Not sure yet how I'll spread myself between the two platforms or if I'll settle on a favourite, but we'll see how it goes!
When I have a bunch of projects on the go and only making incremental progress on any of them, it's nice to find a bug that needs fixing which I can track down and sort out in under an hour and actually feel like I've achieved something today. And it's not even lunchtime yet!

In a couple of hours, we’ll be releasing the first engineering images from our #ESAEuclid mission 🚀🔭

These come ahead of the main release of full colour images later in the year showcasing various regions of the sky, but already demonstrate that the telescope & instruments are working well 👍

While you’re waiting for those, here’s a scribble done by Lucia Fabiani during the launch event stage programme at the European Space Operations Centre on 1 July 🖖

@shadsy That is true and I kinda hope I get more into the habit because I do love going to the movies and being a regular at places is a really good feeling.

That said, I do think the main reason I was recognised was by turning up in the approximate colour scheme of those Arizona green tea bottles.

The best part of the Barbenheimer experience people aren't talking about: the guy at the cinema going YOU'RE BACK!
A friend attending #ICML just sent me a photo of this front runner for best poster award.
