Vele mensen ontdekken #Mastodon. Leren iets nieuws en helpen elkaar door die kennis weer door te geven. Admins zijn druk in de weer om alles online te houden. Mensen verhuizen naar andere servers in een paar klikken alsof het de normaalste zaak van de wereld is. Men ontdekt wat 'open source', 'gedecentraliseerd' en 'instances' zijn. Developers zijn dagelijks bezig met het doorontwikkelen van de software.

Dit project wordt met de dag mooier. ❤️

It’s really sad for people who lost their trusted online home in #Twitter with the Musk takeover. He really shows who he is now by firing half the staff blindly, he simply doesn’t care about the human aspect.

Try to see it positive since now you have discovered a place that’s as much as fun and probably even more! We may not have the numbers but we make up for that by kindness and interaction with each other🥰♥️

How do you make a thread on Mastodon?

Pretty much the same way as on Twitter, with one difference. You compose the first post, publish it, then reply to it, then reply to it again, and so on. But there's one difference. If the first post is Public, you can make all the others Unlisted. This way, people can follow the thread by clicking on the first post, but their timeline isn't clogged up with all of the other posts.

one thing I think that might be lost on newcomers is the fact that this past week has been BANANAS for everyone who's been on the site for years, and if you feel like people are being snippy or pushy about social norms, that's probably why.

on a normal week when people talk about "hey please CW that" or "please don't spam your tweets here with a crossposter" or whatever they're more likely to do so patiently and explain the reasoning behind why we do things that way but on a day like today things are more likely to get a little snippy or terse.

don't take it personally! the old timers are trying to maintain social norms in the face of a flood of change, and they're worn out. keep that in mind if you think to yourself "hm; this place doesn't seem that friendly". give it some time to get back to normal before you bounce.
