☀️⚡️ Everyone in Switzerland agrees we need more solar. But often, there's disagreement about where to put the panels without impacting the landscapes too much.

🛤️ Looking back, this one is a no-brainer, why not lay them down between train rails: there's already a strong connection to the grid, and it's infrastructure that's already ‘built’.

C'est un projet inédit en Suisse: la première centrale solaire amovible sur une voie ferrée ouverte au trafic ferroviaire a été inaugurée jeudi à Buttes, dans le canton de Neuchâtel. Des trains voyageurs vont donc circuler par-dessus une installation photovoltaïque.

The answer I came to as a kid is that bullies don’t see themselves as bullies, and so they root for the heroes in stories and root against the bullies.

I used to think the same about the kinds of adults that vote for Gilead-type policies and politicians: that they don’t believe they’re doing this (even though they are) and so they root against Gilead and the other “bad guys” in media. But I’m no longer so sure about this.

When I was a kid, I wondered if the kids that bullied me in school watched the same movies and TV shows I did, but rooted for the bullies in those stories.

As an adult, I watch The Handmaid’s Tale and wonder how many Americans watch it and root for Gilead.

We badly need a system which isn't winner-takes-all. It has resulted in everyone necessarily coalescing into two parties vying for supremacy, and those parties become a largely static institution which is easily co-opted by the massive amounts of money allowed to corrupt American politics.

And then they don't even need to respond to the concerns of the voters. They just need to convince a majority that they're not as bad as the opposition.

@w7voa ...I would like to say that's a step in the right direction but all this talk about a "betrayal" of Biden and the need for independence "within party lines" all sounds pretty fuckin bad tbh.

If there was any "betrayal" it was in not kicking Biden off the ticket soon enough, and independence isn't gonna be very independent if it's confined to what can fit within the constraints of the party...

@w7voa At a glance it looks like yet another #Biden hit piece and we don’t need any more of that. Just leave him the hell alone. I believe in my heart of hearts that he is a very decent man who did the absolute best he could, and that feeling is unshakable.
