Beware the Fear Koan.
Fear: an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.
Koan: a paradoxical anecdote or riddle, used in Zen Buddhism to demonstrate the inadequacy of logical reasoning and to provoke enlightenment.

Anyway, now that a ton of journalists are flocking back to Mastodon... you should read my article about how all your articles about Mastodon "slumping" were bullshit. https://www.techdirt.com/2023/02/08/lazy-reporters-claiming-fediverse-is-slumping-despite-massive-increase-in-usage/
Lazy Reporters Claiming Fediverse Is ‘Slumping,’ Despite Massive Increase In Usage

There’s been this weird series of articles lately, trying to frame the rapid growth of the fediverse (mainly Mastodon), as somehow now failing. It started last month, with the Guardian’…

More strange Mastodon reporting. This time from @thurrott, who claims "I’ve been using Mastodon since December, but the interaction there is almost non-existent compared to Twitter."

Dude, you follow 22 people. Try following more people. The "non-existent" interaction is *up to you*.

I've found WAY MORE interactions and engagement here than I ever had on Twitter. Plus fewer death threats.

Mastodon Continues to Lose Users

Usage of Mastodon has dwindled over the past two months, with monthly active users plummeting to less than 1.4 million after hitting a peak of 2.5 million in December.

Mississippi is America’s Blackest state. It’s mostly white MAGA Govt annually rejects $1B in Federal $ for Medicaid. Now the last hospital in a rural part of MS is about to close—devastating Black & low income people.

MAGA racism & cruelty on full display. Like the old saying goes. Republicans claim government doesn’t work—then they get elected and prove it.

A Mississippi Delta hospital anchors its community. Now it may close.

If Greenwood Leflore Hospital closes, residents in the Mississippi Delta, one of the poorest regions in the U.S., will have to travel farther for health care.

People grumbling that #Mastodon is slow at the moment... You just turned up with 1 million people in a tiny, rural village and you're complaining there's a queue to get into the only tearoom, which is run by gay pensioners Babs & Maureen as a retirement hobby on Mons-Weds. Relax!

I find myself moving towards a more mindful or deliberate use of my technology. My laptop remains my home computer - my desktop. My tablet and phone though, are becoming increasingly specialized devices. When I first got the tablet the novelty of “phone, but larger” led me to duplicate a lot of function. Most social media lives exclusively on the tablet now. The tablet functions as a laptop does for most people. The phone is almost exclusively a camera, but sometimes I use it for communication.
A word that means both dusk and dawn? A word that refers to both as a pair? A synonym for both? Anyone?
