That website is also where the RSS feed goes, you know, the thing that actually makes it a podcast and not just random posts on several closed platforms

Podcast producers: put up a fucking website for your show, with episode listing.

When I want to recommend an episode to someone, what link do I give them? Apple Podcasts, Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube, …?

There should be one independent and canonical link to your work.

Have some self respect!

Ah shit I'd forgotten about Victorian baby farming. Wherein women who couldn't or didn't want to take care of babies they had, because no contraception, would pay someone to take care of them instead. And when I say "take care of" I do mean neglect, starve or straight up murder them, so they could take in more babies. Baby farming.

Sure fucking hope that doesn't pop up again as a practice as some absolute bastards try to return the US into whatever fever dream of better old times they think they want!

@Triffen There's a huge amount of value that society assigns to having good hair, thick and well kept. Especially women, for a long long time: In a lot of cultures it's referred to as your crown, sometimes literally when you braid it up in a braid crown. It's much worse for women, even with gray hair, and the fairly misogynistic ideal of a "fertile woman" - which is why women cutting off their hair was such a big deal, why wouldn't you advertise that you'd be a good and healthy baby factory, etc. 😄 There's also a lot of ableism there, only sick and feeble people don't have a long glorious locks, and only people who have them are hot! It's a lot.

I could have ended up on medication that makes you lose your hair, so I thought about it a lot. Wearing a wig isn't that different from wearing clothes, since it doesn't go IN your body, just on it. (part 2 incoming)

Fun fact: the English word "clue" (originally spelled "clew") used to mean a ball of yarn or thread. it took on the sense of "a piece of help or guidance" because of the myth of Theseus, who is guided out of the labyrinth by Ariadne's clew.
