I suppose the expression bothers me because it implies that the only reason the person is appreciated (as a whole human being) is because of a little action.
Some people say “I appreciate you” as a way of saying thanks and it kind of rubs me the wrong way. I wish they were more specific and said something like “I appreciate your help” instead. Am I wrong?
