In the last decade I've released more than 160 packs of 2D sprites and 50+ packs of 3D models - they're all completely free to use by anyone for anything! Not thinking of stopping anytime soon, it's a lot of fun and the community support is fantastic! ✨

On August 15, 1997, @Migueldeicaza announced the start of GNOME on the GTK mailing list¹. Twenty-eight years later a lot has changed, but we continue to develop and iterate on “a free and complete set of user friendly applications and desktop tools… based entirely on free software.”

To help us continue this work far into the future, we hope you join us in celebrating our birthday by becoming a Friend of GNOME today! 🎂

Threadbare, the game we've been working on at @EndlessAccess is now available for Linux on Flathub. It's early days, so please bear that in mind!

(If you install it via desktop mode on your Steam Deck, it looks terrible because it's being downscaled from 1920×1080. I don't recommend that right now. Desktop/laptop only for now!)

Rebuild an unraveling world

Flathub - Apps for Linux

If you’re on Linux, there’s a good chance you use GNOME: it’s the default experience across Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora Workstation, Endless OS, and more. If you’re on another desktop, you still likely use components developed by GNOME contributors—or maybe you get apps from Flathub.

Want to become more than just a user? How about… a friend? 🥺 Become a Friend of GNOME to support GNOME, Flathub, and the work we do!

I'm delighted to announce that I've been working with ‪@endlesscomputers providing the in-game #soundtrack for #Threadbare!
Lightning talks (2/2):
- @jimmac gave us a trip down memory lane of icons over the years
- @ramcq talked about what @EndlessAccess is working on. Apparently adorable games that teach kids.
- Jordan covered all the great CI improvements
- Aryan talked about using extensions as a way to start contributing to #gnome
- Syazwan talked about open source from Malaysia. he helps run the gnome YouTube streams
- Pietro (age 12) talked about the programs he's written. Very cool, very inspirational.

In case you missed it live, @manuq and @cassidy streamed a first look at Threadbare, our new open source game built with @godotengine! Check out the recording to learn why we’re building a game and how anyone can contribute to tell their own story.

I made some “fan art” today at work in celebration of the new @EndlessAccess brand colour and the game chosen for our next game club. #BluePrince

We’re able to start talking about this—and I’m stoked: @EndlessAccess is building an open source game!

…but why??

We’re empowering underserved learners to unlock creativity, confidence, and real skills through hands-on community game making. To do this, we’re building a unique story- and quest-driven game called Threadbare.

I’m excited to show off a bit of how it’s built and works behind the scenes with one of the developers, @manuq, on Thursday.
