I've updated my Short History of Global Living Conditions.

here it is: ourworldindata.org/a-history-of-global-living-conditions

Rats use #eyebrows to sense the wind! Animals use wind sensing (#anemotaxis) for navigation & survival. @annmclemens @BrechtLab &co use structural, ephys & behavioral analyses to reveal that supra-orbital #whiskers act as wind antennae in rats #PLOSBiology https://plos.io/3riXfQV
Supra-orbital whiskers act as wind-sensing antennae in rats

Animals rely on sensory processing of airflow (anemotaxis) to guide navigation and survival. This study uses structural, electrophysiological and behavioral analyses to reveal that an under-studied subset of whiskers, the supra-orbital whiskers, act as wind antennae in rats.

Mastodon 🐘
@rosactrl As for me, nothing surprises me anymore. But it's worrying though, watching how much are far-right ideas spreading their venom throughout the world. And it all started with that Trump idiot.
@shanie @feditips Actually it would be the same as it is now. When people choose the server they would be choosing a server that instead of storing the data as they do now, they would store it in a SOLID pod. Only experienced users would know they can bring their own pod. Also, when people migrate to other server, servers would be transferring their pod if it was hosted on the Mastodon instance.
People would be oblivious to the mechanism unless they choose to be involved.
@feditips I reckon this problem could be fixed at the code level by using the SOLID project from Sir Tim Berners-Lee. Actually I'm surprised that Mastodon hasn't jumped onboard already.
His solution would effectively transfer data ownership to every user, who could host his data anywhere and then authorise what applications can access it. It would ruin once and for all the "American way" of corporate-bully culture.
