We have a Boil Notice here in Houston. I hear that was announced on Mastodon.Weird

Can somene please tell me how to get notifications from that island?

Well, I made it through our two Thanksgiving with only one major argument, and that was with my 80 yr old mother over her eldest grandson's chances of getting into Harvard as a sophomore because he took one year of Dual Credit.

I tried to tell her how the system works and how universities feel about Dual Credit, but she would have nothing of it and so we went back and forth, increasing the volume and tone until my mom changed the subject with the line "So anyhow..."

@DrJRN Let's hear it for Texas! Eager to see your #cc collection of #oer

It's helpful that OER Commons has a community college filter (thought lots of Java ones).

I am a fan of the Mason OER Metafinder (you gotta trust MOM!) which also provides a great set of more search tools (like OASIS) https://oer.gmu.edu/?page_id=967

No dickin' around today. I make all the baked goods: pies, cakes, and bread before I call it a day. #thanksgiving

For me, #ungrading is a holistic self-assessment: one way in which my students can identify what they learned and how they put that knowledg to use.

Here is my recent blog post on some of the questions I have students consider when thy draft their #ungrading essays.

Fall 2022: In The Beginning . . .

You're looking at the new interim OER Program Coordinator. Yikes! So much to learn while having to engage students and the administration in...

Any personal memories of this day, 1963? I was in utero, so, I got nothing. #kennedy #jfk #otd

There are so many #opened #oer repositories, especially helpful for #cc. I use Merlot https://merlot.org/merlot/.

I like OERCommons: https://www.oercommons.org/

And because I hail from Houston I am contractually obligated to mention OERTX.

https://oertx.highered.texas.gov/

Soon, my own cc will launch our own repository under the OERTX umbrella.

Not terribly excited about Thanksgiving. Feel like Charlie Brown. I should be happy, but the anxiety is overwhelming. The anxiety to be a good guest on Thursday and the anxiety to be a good host on Friday. Sometimes I feel that I'd rather wake up tomorrow and it would be January 2nd. #mentalhealth #bipolar #gad #anxiety
For the folks with #ptsd, I still have problems with loud noises. I jump, and my heart takes off. Especially sounds out of the blue, such as cars coming up from behind and racing past me, engines roaring. I need quiet, which is maybe one reason I tend to get up at 2 or 3 in the morning. #ptsd

Hello fellow travelers with such conditions as #bipolar #ptsd #gad and #anxiety to name a few.

My name is Jim and I have been diagnosed with all of the above. Been medicated and with insurance, I've been able to afford the meds. Very fortunate.

I work FT, have a few hobbies, but my personal relationships suffer with the swings from mania to depression.

I am looking to meet others with #bipolar #gad #ptsd and similar conditions. #veteran
