Thinking back on this as I recreate my reading list, I really enjoyed the experience. What it was missing is a bit more focus on actionable direction. It's clear that there are a plethora of issues plaguing the games industry, and of course that means it is hard to focus on any one issue to tackle. Shreier isn't too much of an opinionated writer, but I think this was a bit of a missed opportunity to rally readers toward a defined cause and direct their energies in one direction, even if that didn't happen to be the *most optimal direction* possible.

A beautiful, brief look into the life and teachings of Satoru Iwata. Short enough for anyone to enjoy, but highly valuable for gamers, designers, and those who want to look back on the origins of video games to today.

With the recent "developments" of Nintendo in the years since Iwata's passing, it has become ever more noticeable how considerable an impact this man had on the world. This book shows just how powerful you can be if you *simply give a shit.*

Dev pals, I've been MIA for a while as I dealt with biting off more gamedev than I could chew. I've internalized several good lessons, and now that I'm working on returning to the practice, I'm curious:

What are some of your personal gamedev learnings/takeaways from the year?

For me it's gaining a stronger grasp on understanding complexity in development.

Every success and failure alike is a learning opportunity, reflect with me :)
