When you really love something that inspires you, no matter what that thing is, that love often comes with an intense, sad longing for a time and a place you know you can never see or experience. For me, it’s at Atari or Apple in the 70’s and 80’s.
For Hiroshi Sumi it’s at ILM, making Star Wars.
But Hiroshi didn’t settle for longing. This short film shows how tenacity, daydreaming, creativity, and lifelong dedication, can recapture and reappreciate something long gone. https://youtu.be/KlRfXo3SC_k?si=1XEKZeMSFspjTCeA
Regarding the reports about fellow podcast app Castro: https://sixcolors.com/post/2023/11/castro-podcast-app-goes-down-and-may-be-dying/
I hope they survive. Castro has always been my favorite competitor — by FAR the most innovative, and easily the best-designed.
If they do go under, I'll do my best to serve Castro users, but I hope they don’t.
And don't worry about Overcast — it’s healthy and stable, and I'm in the middle of a huge reinvestment in the form of a giant migration to carry the 10-year-old codebase into the next (hopefully) 10+ years!
I ordered a chicken and an egg online.
I'll let you know.
Happy #ExplodingWhale day to those who celebrate.
