I once sent an important loan payoff check through the mail--the only available option. I payed extra for tracking so I'd know it was delivered. Post office still managed to lose it. The tracking info simply stopped.

Turned out they stuck it in the wrong PO box. The only way I know this is because the people who found it in their box mailed it back to me. Otherwise, its disappearance would have remained a mystery.
