Everyone has a dark side. For some people, it's even their good side.

Seriously though, I write stuff for fun so much that people started hiring me to do it on commission too. Resume edits? Blog articles? Scenario scripts? Kinky stuff? I'll write whatever I get paid to write.

Oh, and hit me up if you know a good place to host a variety of writing projects. My old one vanished on me a while ago and I've had to do direct handouts ever since, which is inconvenient for reaching wider audiences.

@argv_minus_one @gerowen No, he was just mad that an award-winning project wasn't made with his engine.

Without exaggeration, that's the only reason he raised such a fuss at all- to the point of trying to get the Cacowards, a long-running annual event dedicated to spotlighting the best community creations of the year, discredited entirely.

He's always been something of an egotist, and his attitude was inevitably going to eclipse his contributions.

@argv_minus_one @gerowen It was a 'glitch horror' mapset that won a prestigious community award for making clever use of engine bugs to enhance its theme while also creating unique environments and combat encounters.

Graf threw a fit over the award because it used the original ZDoom instead of his engine- because he'd already fixed the bugs the mod used to its advantage. He was mad that lilith.pk3 was 'too good' for GZDoom.

The LLM code wasn't a turning point; it was a back-breaking straw.

@argv_minus_one @gerowen I'd say he fell from grace right after the lilith.pk3 thing, so this latest event is just people finally filling in the hole he'd been digging for himself for a while now.

Personally, I think he's had this coming ever since he decided to leave texture filtering on by default.

While I don't dislike kill counters as a concept, I feel that there's not enough information to look at beyond the counter itself.

I want to be able to inspect the weapon and get a complete list of everyone it's ever killed, how many times I killed them, the map(s) I killed them on, which class/character they were playing, and any special qualifiers (buffs, assists) that contributed to the kill.

And a bunch of sorting options for all of the above, natch.

@mr_daemon One of my favorite things to do with certain gameplay mods is create Obsidian mapsets and try to play through them in one sitting each; if I die, I delete the mapset.

Certainly keeps DRLA in the spirit of DRL proper, and makes those rare few mods that can port a character to a new mapset all the more noteworthy for it. Assuming said characters manage to live that long, anyway...

@hiisikoloart Finally, someone who's actually living the dream. And for a scifi-horror work, by the looks of those tags? Cherry on top.

Well done, fellow struggler.

I mentioned on a #writing board that sometimes I leave an unfinished project alone too long and end up coming back to it as a different person, and like five other people said they'd never felt more attacked. One of them was a #gamedev too.

You'd think that having to put in a team effort with your own past self wouldn't be a common problem, yet here we are.

@Darsycho2 I'm pretty sure something like this was the plot of a Wario Land game.
#gaming wishlist: Someone needs to file the serial numbers off of Metal Gear Solid V and make a game that's about building a military organization from the ground up and participating in stealth-action missions around the globe. Keep the setting interesting by leaning into the military sci-fi and mild supernatural elements of the inspiration and I think you'd have something that'd be worth a lot of attention.
@TadPatterson I wonder what the ratio is between people who actually buy things on the EGS vs. people who only ever launch it to claim the giveaways they're constantly doing.
