@scj @paul Ditto. I don’t use downloaded maps and had a good signal with low buildings around.
I’ve had this happen twice. Once before ios26 and once after. I’ve had it freeze and the other time it lost its GPS lock. So it was wandering around lost.
@paul Sony XMs are easily repaired and parts are readily available I’ve found.
there was a post in a group chat about that Copilot garbage theyre adding to Excel so i spent a while setting up this photo and posted it saying "i dont think i got the update yet" but everyone just ignored me. so idk maybe you will enjoy it
@vmachiel @stroughtonsmith the additional kicker with iPad apps is the subscription on a lot of them.

Along the lines of @tess's "what would 4chan do with this product" rule, we need to ask "what would a domestic abuser do to their partner using this product" when considering technological products.

they should make another jurassic park movie
This likely means that deciding to use a cloud provider like OpenAI to power Siri instead of trying to do it on-device is a practical inevitability. Apple may only be realizing now that their silicon is still generations away from where they need it to be to power the features they want to build, in any kind of performant manner, even with all the unified RAM in the world
You cannot carry all of the pain of the world. It will break you unless you channel it into helping people and finding joy.
A very reasonable predictor for 'what is Apple going to do next' is to look at what Microsoft was doing 5 years ago. Flat design, Surface, desktop/tablet mode, Universal Apps, mobile-first design across the desktop, splitscreen windowing, Hololens, Copilot, GenAI throughout the OS, 'Game Mode' and a game bar overlay, phone mirroring, foldable phones. It's exhausting to watch Microsoft do cool things, have them fall on their face, and be discontinued before becoming standard across the industry
