The #Toyota4Runner that caused today's awful Boston Apple Store #CarCrash weighs 4800 pounds and goes 0>60 in 7.6 seconds.

We in the USA need to hold our agencies, especially #NHTSA and #USDOT chief #PeteButtigieg to account for continuing to make these "cars" street legal.

Soon available with #EV subsidies too! #TrafficViolence

News will focus on Mark's dramatic crash, on these terrible violent deaths.

But even "minor" injuries often create lifetimes of trauma, physical disability, financial pain. Portland streets cause hundreds of serious injuries every year. And impact thousands more people who witnessed them happening or care for their aftermath.

We are all deeply impacted by a very flawed transportation system, and the financial & emotional costs of forcing most people to own, store & drive cars.

We can change.

We're so focused on the young chef, whose friends, family, and colleagues will miss her daily,. On Seamus, killed in his stroller 12 years ago, whose mother will hold him close in her heart for the rest of her life.

We're so focused on the unbelievable excruciating tragedies of traffic violence death that we often fail to see the daily grind of crash after crash after crash. And the injured and the witnesses and the families & the way we all deal with a culture of car violence every single day.

On the group bike ride to today's #WDoR2022 in Portland, BikeLoud PDX Treasurer Mark was a hit by a person speeding thru a red light at Division & 118th. Mark was flung from his bike. He's bruised & shaken, but he's okay. His bike is totaled. A bus driver & another car driver at the scene shared their camera footage of the crash.

The person driving raced away, but a bike person in our group chased them down. This incident was too small to show up in PDX Police Log.

Our streets are failing us.

#CrashNotAccident

I'm heading out to lead a BikeLoudPDX ride to #WDoR2022. World Day of Remembrance for Road for victims of traffic violence.

Event is Sun Nov 20 1pm at 122nd & Powell, put on by a coalition of groups supporting #FamiliesForSafeStreets.

There've been 129 deaths by #TrafficViolence in Portland in the past 2 years.
In the past 24 hours, Police reports were filed on 26 "Accidents" including six Road "Injuries" and five "Hit & Runs".

Our streets are failing us.

Happy old lady on a bike Saturday!

E-cars get subsidized. Why not e-bikes? 🚲

@bikeloudpdx hosts a ride with @CamSBennett, PSU expert on rebates for e-bikes.

Saturday Nov 19 starting 1PM from PSU @ Harrison & Broadway

BikeLoud PDX takes a group ride to the Multnomah Courthouse to deliver their lawsuit against the City of Portland for failing to uphold a 1971 state law that requires pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure in street construction projects. Members of the advocacy group hope the lawsuit holds the city accountable to its bicycle and climate goals.

Scott Kocher from Forum Law Group rode along. Thomas, Coon, Newton & Frost are also helping to support BikeLoud's lawsuit.

Good night, stars. Good night, air.
Good night, Twitter everywhere.

Cool! I just did this super-quick rendering of Hawthorne in inner Portland while on a call with @americawalks webinar with @betterstreetsai.

SO easy to use on line. May it be so IRL.
