The Stripple stones, A stone circle in a henge on Bodmin Moor. #StamdingStoneSunday #Cornwall

Crickley Hill in Gloucestershire for #HillfortsWednesday. It started life as a Neolithic causewayed enclosure, with several phases including a shrine and an intriguing linear monument consisting of an earthwork bank ending in a stone circle or kerbed platform.

It was then refortified by a massive Iron Age rampart, making it a large promontory fort.

This visit November 2015, when a temperature inversion filled the Vale of Gloucester.

Trevethy Quoit a Neolithic Dolmen on the edges of Bodmin Moor. The huge capstone has a unique hole in the top.

I've added to the list!!
Just noticed that a possible Bronze Age scraper that I found back in February has been added to the Cornwall Council map and heritage gateway database!

As everyone's got comfy and it's dark outside, here are a couple of book posts for #StandingStoneSunday. These were my spirit guides, leading me so *very* far astray in the pre-internet world.

For my first #StandingStoneSunday on mastodon here is Callanish #StandingStones on the Isle of Lewis Scotland, on our last visit in June this year. What an incredible magical special place, lucky to get it to ourselves for the photographs as it's usually very busy. #prehistory

@Carolynkennett @thesweetcheat @stouters Yes, it is the Trippet Stones. You can see the stone in my 360° panorama of the circle. It's the stone to the left of Hawks Tor.

The most prominent of the stones, which probably formed a stone circle, in which the church of St Eval was built. Other stones can be found in the undergrowth. Taken in 2015. #StandingStoneSunday #Cornwall #StEval
