The Druid's Altar is a very unusual monument. A round cairn with three standing stones (and a fourth stump) and a central stone set into the top. It has been classified as a four poster stone circle, a type of monument more common in Scotland, but it's not really like anything I've been to before.
Superb weather for an 8 mile up and back walk from Threshfield, taking in some limestone pavement on Malham Moor.

14 miles of sweltering hot southwest Dartmoor, from Shaugh Prior to Yelverton, taking in 3 tors and numerous prehistoric sites. Finally got to visit Trowlesworthy Warren stone rows and cairn circles, an itch I've wanted to scratch for a very long time, as well as revisiting old favourites Ringmoor Down and Brisworthy stone circle.
Bonus stones for #StandingStoneSunday - the wonderful Nine Stones Close in the Peak District.
Four tall stones remain of this ring, the tallest of any of the Peak District's many stone circles. It has a visual interrelationship with Robin Hood's Stride, a gritstone tor described by Aubrey Burl as resembling a hippopotamus.
Visited just now, on a muggy afternoon.
