Had a beautiful walk in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park yesterday. The peaks were a winter wonderland ❄️❄️❄️ I was very happy for wearing every warm layer I own! #winter #bannaubrechieniog
Frosty morning walk along the Thames this morning. Very atmospheric ❄️❄️❄️ #thames #winter
Had a superb trip into Ogof Draenen on the weekend in South Wales. We went down to it's one of it's lower limits, a long trip in a near 70km long cave!

I spy spring 😍☀️🌱
Another pic from the the #Tresviso caving expedition to the #picosdeeuropa. This was a very unique #speleothem, which (I think) was formed when a stalactite grew long enough to reach a pool of water, growing outwards in all directions into a ball, then the pool of water draining in a later stage of cave development. Do any of my fellow #geologists know what this is called? We affectionately named this chamber 'monkeyfist chamber' in relation to the similar looking climbing knot. (hand for scale)
Had the most amazing time in Tresviso, Spain exploring the unmapped systems under the Picos de Europa mountains. This pic is from Cueva del Nacimiento, where we were about a day and a half into the cave and walked into the unexplored. It has to be one of the prettiest caves I have ever seen.

With the need for action to solve the #climatecrisis getting ever more urgent, I would really like to do as much as I can to make a difference. One key thing is avoid flying as much as possible.

So I have been looking at getting the train from Cardiff to Turin for a holiday to Italy over the summer... Flying is nearly half the price of the train 🤯 How is one ment to pick the low carbon option when it's this expensive?

Had a fantastic boxing day walk up Ysgyryd Fawr and Suger Loaf. Beautiful views and mostly clear skies! Certainly burned off some of the Christmas Dinner and cheese!

I'm out in the east of #switzerland for a training course and couldn't help but snap this epic fold structure forming the peak of the mountain 🤓

Had a great evening at the Royal Institution last night. A fascinating talk by Professor John Harrison for the Glossop award. Have always wanted to go to a lecture here, full of history.
