As a dog-owner, my advice is to talk to them directly without the dog around (knock on the door, talk in the hallway). Tell them your kid is very scared of dogs and that when it jumps or barks near you, your kid gets more frightened. If it seems like they aren’t able to control their dog then I would go straight to the landlord and tell the landlord that you are worried for your kid’s safety since the dog seems to go straight towards your kid. If the landlord doesn’t seem sympathetic make a report with someone at bylaw. Unfortunately your most convincing evidence is going to be something on film which means you need it to happen again. What I’m hoping is that a conversation directly with the owners will get them to be ready to hold their dog back and walk away if they see you. Or avoid being near you guys altogether as much as possible. Of course you bike outside, and dogs have to go outside, so you’re going to run into each other unexpectedly. If the owners are prepared and can’t handle the dog when it’s excited then that is not good 😣
