The editors of Scientific American have written an opinion piece saying we need to move away from #cars to #activetransport because of local & carbon #pollution, road crash death & injury and how it restricts access to life for so many- the young, the elderly, the poor & disabled.

We Need to Make Cities Less Car-Dependent

Reducing the need for car travel is better for health, the environment and public safety

@ExtinctionR

I love non-car options. I ride my bike to work as often as I can.

I am 65 years old.

I have arthritis.

Please keep me in your thoughts.

@ExtinctionR What I find astonishing is that many people still believe the future of urban transport is the private car, if not oil powered, then electric. Take my city #Glasgow, a densely packed core with multiple occupancy housing. There isn't room on the roads to drive & park oil burners, let alone to build the charging infrastructure needed for electric. Active travel, public transport and shared cars are our only practical options.
