Finished painting purple for My Father’s Work. The only reason I got around to finishing it was because I sold it and felt guilty for only painting half the purple pieces! 😂

Honestly I often end up volunteering due to my interest in seeing my local game community grow with interesting events. Events I would like to enjoy but aren’t happening for various reasons. I also grew up with the mantra of “if you want something done well, do it yourself”. So stepping up just makes sense to me.

How do others feel about being volunteer organisers? How do you balance responsibility and personal enjoyment? I’m struggling to find a balance.

Organising events for friends and my local gaming community voluntarily is stressful. I often sit out of playing the events I run to balance play groups. I feel responsible for making sure everyone participating has a wonderful time often at the expense of my own enjoyment. I also feel guilty that my fun might come at the cost of another’s so it’s just easier to sit out. Still there is the reward of accomplishment that everything ran smoothly.
