@Octavian I tried it at Essen and the chalk pens were messy to use. I wish it was designed in a way that regular dry erase pens worked. I enjoyed it, but the amount of writing required with chalk pens was off putting!
@nickferris Maybe 10-15% of our collection once a year? But it’s hard to answer because I count my collection by base game only and usually exclude expansions that are not stand-alone.
@TimClare The stall you saw at Essen was Spiele Materials. You can online from the direct here: https://www.spielematerial.de/en/

Finished painting purple for My Father’s Work. The only reason I got around to finishing it was because I sold it and felt guilty for only painting half the purple pieces! 😂

@ofdiceandmen Satisfaction in a job well done is both a benefit and a hindrance for me. Sometimes I’ve got to remind myself it’s ok to enjoy something without helping! Thanks for your insight. I might try doing some smaller sized events to participate! 😊
@ianotoole Yes doing well! It's crunch time before Christmas/New Year which I'm sure is the same for you :)

Honestly I often end up volunteering due to my interest in seeing my local game community grow with interesting events. Events I would like to enjoy but aren’t happening for various reasons. I also grew up with the mantra of “if you want something done well, do it yourself”. So stepping up just makes sense to me.

How do others feel about being volunteer organisers? How do you balance responsibility and personal enjoyment? I’m struggling to find a balance.

Organising events for friends and my local gaming community voluntarily is stressful. I often sit out of playing the events I run to balance play groups. I feel responsible for making sure everyone participating has a wonderful time often at the expense of my own enjoyment. I also feel guilty that my fun might come at the cost of another’s so it’s just easier to sit out. Still there is the reward of accomplishment that everything ran smoothly.
@ianotoole Welcome!
@pedromr they are from @host profile :)
