I feel like I can't say "software" anymore (e.g. social annotation software, classroom polling software). It feels like signalling that I am out-of-touch. Do I just replace it with "tool" everytime? Advice, #eddev #facdev #instructionaldesign #higheredpedagogy ?
I'm pretty sure I'm one of the only political scientists who gets excited to get a manuscript review request. Here's to staying engaged and contributing to #PoliSciPedagogy & #SoTL ! 😊

I just discovered Tracie Addy's vignette videos of inclusive teaching practices and I'm stoked! It's so hard to find high quality videos of #highered instructors actually teaching, rather than talking about their teaching as a talking head. If you know of other examples of this, please share! #eddev #higheredpedagogy

My fellow parents of preschoolers, what if you taught your kiddos to get their own ice water? They’ll be proud and empowered. you will be (more) free. It’s a gamechanger. #AcademicMoms #momademia
Looking for examples of university courses that implement #alternativegrading (#ungrading, specifications grading, etc) in arts departments (visual art, theater, music, etc).

I want to pay attention to when the work feels great. It did today in the Large Course Initiative faculty learning community at #umich

If you facilitate multisession #facdev programs, make time for folks to share key takeaways w\ the group. You won't regret it.

"I'm unsure about the expectations for the paper/final project" When collect midterm student feedback at my CTL, I hear this one a lot. I always suggest the TILT framework, but I'd love to hear what other resources you use. #eddev #facdev #pedagogy in #HigherEd

@edutooters

tl;dr strategies for #highered instructors with non-dominant identities who experience too demanding student responses to their flexibility measures?

This chronicle piece by @ThomasJTobin & Chavella Pittman is really insightful. I appreciate how they laid the action items on the institution, rather than instructors...but experiences like Dr. Pittman's come up in my teaching consultations. I'd like to have strategies to share! #facdev #eddev #pedagogy #highered

We'd get more folks #teaching in #highered open to rubrics if we just said "share the criteria you'll assess students on. I think there are two reasons why:

1.Building out a traditional grid rubric is a lot of groundwork. A list of criteria and their relative weights is a smaller lift and better than nothing!

2. We're fighting against an unspoken bias against things done in K-12 ed. ::eye roll::

Thoughts about what we'd lose with this move?

Come work with me at #UMich CRLT. I'm happy to share some of the quantitative data and survey projects I've worked on with our #assessment team---they've been really engaging and let me keep my #rstats skills sharp. #altac

@edutooters maybe you can help me find the right hashtags to spread this to the right people!
