2023 marks my 43rd year as a self-employed graphic designer, editor, and writer. I started working out of my home in San Antonio and within a year or so able to move into a real office space.
This photo—a true blast from the past—is from around 1981 and set in my first real office. Check out the old-school telephone and wooden drawing board (it was an antique even then). This was pre-computers, and artwork was still cut & paste, all done by hand. Sometimes I miss those days, but not really…
