Are you a scientist who's active on Mastodon and does research in #ornithology, #ecology, #naturalhistory, or a related field? I want to follow you - please reply and introduce yourself! (And please share so this reaches more people!)
@r_heisman hi. Birds, water, climate
@r_heisman hello! I’m a palaeoecologist (mainly phytoliths, sponges, sometimes diatoms), looking at human-nature relationships, environments and climate change. Weekends spent photographing and recording inverts and anything else that captures my eye (or sits still long enough for me to take a photo…). Also a trustee on a couple of conservation/research groups
@r_heisman Hello! I am a scientist in salmon ecology in the PNW and active here, although I do minimal research and am more of an applied scientist. I design aquatic ecosystem restoration projects and write environmental compliance documents for federal civil works. My posts here are mostly my nature photos, but could include stuff from work that I’m particularly proud of. Hope you find lots of your people here!
@r_heisman Hi! I just joined recently and haven't posted a thing about my work yet, but I am a conservation biologist working with birds of the southwestern U.S.
@r_heisman I'm a scientist in #India doing research in #ornithology, #trees, #ecology, and interested in #naturalhistory with a focus on #tropicalforests. I'm also a writer (#nonfiction, #naturewriting, #wildlife) with a couple of #books done and a couple in the pipeline. Glad to meet you over Mastodon.

Here is a curated lists of academics on Mastodon by field of research you can use to generate a .csv file you then import on your account and it automatically follows them all.

@r_heisman Hi! I'm an applied entomologist interested in mostly ecology/behaviour of insects relevant to fruit crops and agriculture. I especially love pollinators but also have a recurring fondness for weevils. I recently moved out of higher education and work for a not-for-profit research organisation in the UK now.
@r_heisman Hi Rebecca, I'm a professor at the University of Canterbury where I teach and study tree physiology, silviculture, statistics, dendrology, and modelling of forest growth.
@r_heisman thanks for this, some great accounts to follow!
@r_heisman Um, research involving chickens (livestock welfare), which are birds (even if people tend to forget that). 👋
@r_heisman Does Mesozoic paleornithology count? If so:
@r_heisman Hello, Rebecca, my name is Gonçalo Ferraz and I work with population biology of birds in southern Brazil: ferrazlab.org. Thanks for reaching out!
@r_heisman hello! Checking in as a molecular ecologist interested in diversity of reproductive systems, their evolution and turnover, especially using #insects and #genomics

@r_heisman

I teach two courses where I have students do small-scale ecology projects…

@r_heisman hi Rebecca! I’m an entomologist studying land use and climate change effects on insect biodiversity and ecosystem functions.
@r_heisman Hi! I am a botanist from Catalonia (NE Iberian Peninsula) and I am particularly interested in geobotany, floristic studies and open knowledge projects.
It is a pleasure to contact other researchers and naturalists
