Far-right conspiracy theorist Gregg Phillips, who believes in teleportation, has been picked by the Trump regime for a top job in the disaster relief agency FEMA.

Stupidity really is lethal.

I've been subscribed to Nate Hagens' Great Simplification podcast for a few years. Any of the episodes are worth sharing.

In light of the war being waged by the US and Israel against Iran and likely long-term disruption we'll be facing, yesterday's episode is especially worth a share.

That said, I think the audio format for something like this is not the best. The subject is too complex to be discussed only in audio at least for me. I need a visual, words. So I recommend reading the blog post then listening.

If you're new to his work it may not be clear simply because there's some depth and foundation to this discussion, it's hard to jump in mid-stream.

He offers a long term analysis of systemic problems that is outside of the scope of the usual discussion. And the framework he offers is not an easy, quick top-down fix with legislation. It's long-term community adaption and capacity building.

Having lifted sanctions on Russian oil, Trump now lifts sanctions on Iranian oil as well, because of his Hormuz Strait chaos.

So to recap:
•Trump illegally bombed Iran.
•Iran responded by closing the Straight of Hormuz, thus spiking oil prices.
•Trump is now responding by lifting sanctions on Iranian oil, thus funding the regime he's bombing—all as the Straight of Hormuz remains closed.

So in short, Trump bombed Iran, raised oil prices for Americans, and gave Iran more money. Masterful gambit by the author of the Art of the Deal.

Are we great yet?

Imagine the strength of the free world, if the American people had elected a president who joined the European alliance and sent marines to take Crimea in Ukraine instead of Kharg Island in Iran.
Trump thought he could control the war in Iran. Three weeks in, it’s clear he can’t. Allies have their own agendas, the objectives are unclear, and the political pressure is mounting. History tells us what happens when leaders walk into traps they cannot escape. https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/trump-escalation-trap-lbj-vietnam

Society has given up more than it realises in moving to a digital world and abandoning paper publications. It will be much easier to literally rewrite history if there's no physical record of it any more.

They can't find any mentally balanced people to run an organization filled with violent goons.

An excerpt of an interview with Utah Phillips in 2003. He talks about the origins of the IWW, the labor movement, corporate fascism and the US with a comparison to the rise of the Nazis.

Worth a listen.
