Just an anonymous East Bay unicorn in a trash can, trying to focus on listening to, discovering and sharing music, but--if we're being honest--mostly getting sucked into the Housing Discourse. One of those e-cargo-bike dads you see around.

I could not for the life of me parse the beginning of this tweet and was well on my way to googling what decision it was that the Second Circuit Court of Appeals had issued a split ruling on. #elon
Here is #Oakland #folkpop purveyor #StephenSteinbrink playing for a rapt, respectful crowd tonight at #BottomOfTheHill. #sfbamusic
I canโ€™t stop thinking about how #BenFolds wrote a funny, poignant song about the dumbass timeline we live in, with a reference to how terrible #jan6 was (โ€œโ€ฆ and mobs you canโ€™t unsee โ€ฆโ€) and the top Google result for the lyrics thinks itโ€™s about wishing you hadnโ€™t seen โ€ฆ a grandmom? Doing what exactly? #Yikes.
Iโ€™m at the #EastBayBikeParty, where are you? #ebbp #ebbikeparty
Just a litany of recent headlines in the #sfchronicle demonstrating the lengths that #SanFrancisco will go to in order to address the #homelessness crisis by doing literally anything other than providing shelter.
In the wake of #CADMV suspending #Cruiseโ€™s license to operate, everyone seems very focused on the fact that the robotaxi dragged the pedestrian 20 feet after stoppingโ€”which is certainly horrificโ€”and the companyโ€™s initial failure to show the #DMV footage of that part of the incident. But, AGAIN, I have to ask: Why was the Cruise continuing to advance across #MarketStreet (yes along with the human driver who actually first hit the pedestrian) when there was someone in the crosswalk?!
I actually think itโ€™s great that #SanFrancisco is looking to #Detroit for inspiration about what to do with its downtown. [via https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2023/10/23/what-happened-to-san-francisco-really]
The @sfchronicle would have us believe that higher #vacancyrates are good for tenants and helped lead to #rents in #Oakland falling 7%, which sounds like a logical and simple explanation based on a common understanding of how markets work, UNTIL you remember that thatโ€™s not a useful argument against #infillhousing and that many are saying landlords keep units vacant to increase rents. https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/oakland-apartment-rent-bedroom-18411037.php
And here is opening act #Hawktail.
A few more pics from last nightโ€™s #NickelCreek #concert in #Oakland. Unlike these photos taken from the balcony with my totally out-of-date iPhone, the group was incredibly focused.
