London police say they have recorded an 1,353 per cent increase in antisemitic offences this month compared to the same period last year, while Islamophobic offences were up 140 per cent in the wake of the attack by Hamas on Israel, Reuters has reported.
There are just 145,000 Jews in London vs 1.3 million muslims. That helps illustrate the dimension of the whole thing.

Taking 24 hours to verify the claims of the former (due to their ability to do this), while taking two seconds to regurgitate the claims of the latter (since they don’t know how to or have the resources to verify them and so might as well just state them as fact), is not objective journalism and needs to be challenged. The trouble arises when one side is a democracy, that communicates (more or less) transparently, provides evidence for its claims, and can have its opinions checked due to access to counter sources, and the other is a tyrannical regime that terrorizes its population to parrot the official line, provides no evidence of its claims and applies draconian measures on those who say anything “off message”. The "traditional" media regularly apply groupthink and one of their ideas is that in any debate or conflict, both sides of the argument are always equally valid and they shoudn't take sides. In the case of the BBC, this even applied to terrorism from the IRA. The government banned Gerry Adams' voice being broadcast so they broadcast him with his words dubbed over his voice by another speaker. (1/3)
@Gargron The pogroms of the past originated in the idea, widespread among Christians, that the Jews killed Christ. Today, attempts are made to justify murders and killings of Jews by labeling their country and religion as "genocidal". It is happening on Mastodon and seems to be tolerated, as a result of a misinterpretation of the concept of "freedom of speech". The accusation is baseless. It is pure anti-Semitism. I am sure you appreciate this and won't turn a blind eye to this hate speech.
