I feel like mastodon's layout is too compressed on desktop and there's way too much going on.
#mastodon #fediverse #layout

Watching kbin/lemmy instances and noticed a disturbing trend. Not only is the fediverse fragmenting over there, but instance owners are literally being bullied into decisions that will eventually cause their instance to stagnate, or simply turn people off of them and return to Reddit. Everything from defed to instance-wide rules.

It's truly unfortunate. The argument, of course, is "start your own instance", as if everyone has the disposable income to do so...

@BenjaminGorman I've seen writing.exchange, might try that one.
@alexwild I've actually wondered how much trouble it is to transfer. Do you just start over and lose friends and such?

People grumbling that #Mastodon is slow at the moment... You just turned up with 1 million people in a tiny, rural village and you're complaining there's a queue to get into the only tearoom, which is run by gay pensioners Babs & Maureen as a retirement hobby on Mons-Weds. Relax!

@Bluewall Well, just found out recently that Persona 5 is different from Persona 5 Royal (which I'm playing). 😂
@Bluewall Addicted to Persona 5 right now too.
@defulmere Yeah, it looks like you can add them from a browser, but once added, it doesn't seem to affect the app at all. Gonna mess around me in browser. Lots of additional settings are only accessible from web it seems.
After looking around for a bit, I feel discoverability is an issue here, or maybe it's my lack of understanding. I could see someone constantly transferring just to discover new people. I realize you can browse outside of your account, but it's a bit awkward.
