@Triplefox @grandeped @clhendricksbc Does this partly depend on what "the community" consists of. Reading introductions and the public timeline I can see how important this space is and to be honest I feel pretty protective of that.
So part of the question about community is the question about what a community does, not just what a community is. That I think is what's exercising those of us who came here together.
@katebowles @Triplefox @grandeped @clhendricksbc It does boil down to trust and responsiblity; trust in each other, responsibility to the community.
So far I find myself trusting people here, and that in turns increases my sense of responsibility. It seems to be that way for others too, and I hope that will continue.
@Triplefox @Tdorey @grandeped @clhendricksbc Events that create subset communities: this has really been on my mind, as all of this has recalled what happened with Mike Caulfield's federated wiki happenings. @cogdog and I were both involved, and what seemed to work was the event-status -- people getting together to get something done.
So I'm thinking about how these pop-up community events co-exist with more stable community spaces. Is this making sense?
@Triplefox There are all sorts of explanations long and longer at Mike Caulfield's excellent blog. Here's one on the philosophy that came out of it. Mike has really been the driver of what started as federated wiki (developed with Ward Cunningham) and then was developed further as Wikity.
