📍 Ynys Llanddwyn
Die kleine Gezeiteninsel Ynys Llanddwyn ist nur bei Ebbe mit Anglesey verbunden. Ich hatte mehrere dieser #Holzpfosten auf dem Inselchen gesehen und fand die mysteriösen walisischen Schriftzeichen total faszinierend. Bis ich dann gerade beim Nachschärfen festgestellt habe, dass da einfach nur der Name steht. 😂 Im Hintergrund seht ihr den Leuchtturm Tŵr Mawr und ein großes Kreuz, zu dem man hinwandern kann. Auf der Insel befindet sich die Ruine der St Dwynwen's Church, die als Schutzheilige der Verliebten verehrt wurde – quasi die walisische Valentina. Nach ihr wurde auch die Insel benannt. The small tidal island of Ynys Llanddwyn is only attached to #Anglesey at low tide. I spotted several of these wooden pillars on the island and was fascinated by the mysterious Welsh script. Just now, when I was sharpening the image for the post, I realized it simply reads the name of the island. 😂 In the background, you see Tŵr Mawr Lighthouse and a tall cross that you can walk to. The island is named after St Dwynwen, patron saint of lovers, so basically the Welsh St Valentina. Her church is just a ruin now, but it was a popular pilgrimage site in the Middle Ages.
