Hey all, call for questions time! I still haven’t answered them all from last week 😳

Next #BikeNite is this Friday at 4pm Pacific standard time (UTC-8)!

This is our weekly call for questions. Reply with any you'd like me to add to the discussion on Friday. Please add the BikeNitePQ hashtag so it's easier to find a Proposed Question. There is room for more!

(BikeNite is a Q&A type discussion on the Fediverse.) #BikeTooter cc @bikenite

@ascentale @bikenite

I saw a couple of cyclists riding on a traffic-heavy road with no shoulder, correctly riding with the flow of traffic. But there was a separated bike path on the opposite side of the road that seemed much safer.

So my question: Is it better to bike against the traffic flow on a safer path especially if it's separated, or stick to being part of traffic?

@puppethead @ascentale @bikenite
I reckon that's an "it depends."
Were there driveways or intersections? I got honked at riding on the road when there's a half mile of BIKE PATH on the side, but many driveways and side roads and peiople are *not* looking for people going more than 3 mph on them.
@puppethead @ascentale @bikenite
There's also the question: how you gonna get back in the flow? If you're on the other side, when does that path end?
@ascentale @bikenite
Can you track stand? For how long? How much easier is it to track stand on a fixie?

@ascentale I've been interested in trying to organize a bike bus in my suburban school district. What resources are there for that kind of effort? I'm particularly concerned about the safety of the kids and legal liability for the adults involved.

@ascentale

Bike campers, do you use a bear-proof cannister or bag when camping around raccoons and other critters? if so, how do you carry it on the bike? If not, what do you do with food overnight?

@ascentale I replied to your call last week, but forgot to add the BikeNitePQ hashtag. Did you get that question or should I link to it? #BikeNitePQ
