A quick sneak peak of everything from the Boston trip (including a few New England-centric gems) before I hibernate.

Particularly excited about the Harvard/Yale 29-29 game record, as well as the Screaming Broccoli record.

We’re gonna get into all this stuff starting tomorrow.

@TheVinylApe I definitely want to know the story on that Harvard/Yale album.
@donutage ESPN made a 30 for 30 about it.
@TheVinylApe I see the game was a classic case of "It's Ivy League football, ANYTHING could happen!" But why (& how) was it made into an album?

@donutage just to appeal to the local folks, I think.

There’s tons of regional sports records out there floating about, lot of em pretty cool.

I have a ton of football ones (American football. The good one…) and they’re the only ones I have interest in.
Some interesting facts for you about it:

Actor Tommy Lee Jones played in that game. He was a guard for Harvard.
His roommate at Harvard was Al Gore.

Harvard scored 16 points in the final 42 seconds to tie heavily favored Yale, inspiring the famous headline “Harvard Beats Yale, 29–29.”

One of the opposing Yale players, Bob Levin, had a girlfriend named Meryl Streep, who at the time was attending Vassar.

November 23rd, 1968.

If you can find the 30 for 30, watch it.
It’s beyond fascinating.

@TheVinylApe I had the dubious distinction of attending Yale as an undergrad, & I was in the Yale "Precision" Marching Band, so I saw my share of Ivy League football shenanigans. The only real brush with celebrity I had there though was meeting Paul Giamatti, who was a year ahead of me & in the same residential college. My roommates & I inherited his dorm room as sophomores.
@donutage quite the distinction!
🔥🔥🔥🔥

@TheVinylApe

Ain't thought about Screaming Broccoli in an age.

@icastico so good. 🔥
Screaming Broccoli - s/t (1987, Ruling Factor)

If this isn't a misanthropic punk record then I don't know what is.  Born and bred in the wilds of Vermont, Screaming Broccoli were a tri...

@icastico yup.
Saw that a long while back.

So happy I found it.

“You call it corn / but we call it maize.”

😂

@TheVinylApe

Really the best soundtrack for leafing through old Flaming Carrots comics.

@TheVinylApe That Screaming Broccoli looks like a great find, also loved seeing the Grandaddy! CONGRATS! 😎
