At least some judge came to their senses and ruled that piracy doesn't entitle the IP holders/licensees to damages equal of the full price of the including subscription.

Obviously that doesn't make pirate decryption legal, it merely takes into account that those subscribing to card sharing ain't necessarily able to pay the regular subscription so, the damage claims are on their own made-up bogus if the Pay-TV provider can't evidence them!

IMHO: Piracy should be legal everytime one cannot legally obtain a copy of said content via a perpetual, offline-accessible (DRM-free!) one-time-purchase on physical media !

  • I mean, if a license / IP holder doesn't want to offer their copyrighted works under fair, reasonable & non-discriminatory terms then they shouldn't be allowed to cry about "loss of revenue" due to piracy!
    • IMHO it's also a "Them - Problem" ["You-Problem"] if they're delisting it due to 3rd parties revoking/cancelling licensing…
