@alice unlike AI, nfts was something very small and close to tech proficient/ financial bro culture, if I go out and ask anyone on the street I bet 90% will tell me never heard of it ever, while meta's AI is opens up by itself every time they open instagram

@alice yeah and honestly the "gen AI" push feels to me just a bit like a reaction to the humiliation of cryptocurrencies and NFTs as the Next Big Thing™. the techbros were forced to get kinda secretive and furtive with that stuff (if course they still pin their hopes to its eventual triumph) and retaliated with another scam that required basically the same equipment (i.e. vast server farms)
