Yes, they're arresting legal observers in Minnesota.

No, the rest of us doing the same will not stop. Everything we do is Constitutionally protected, and we have our First Amendment rights as long as we fight for them. We know not to open the door for anything but a signed judicial warrant, we've been trained to know what those look like, and if they want to kidnap us it's come for one, face us all.

Solidarity with #Minnesota.

Like, how do they even think this intimidation stuff is going to work? We didn't stop when we watched them shoot Renee Good in the face. A bunch of new people joined us that very weekend following her murder.

How do they think this is anything for us but confirmation of the value of what we do?

@MaryAustinBooks sounds like they’re testing to see if there are any weak spots.
@grammasaurus
For sure, it's just preposterous to think there are any in people who signed up knowing they could be unjustly imprisoned or killed. But that's these guys all over: they think what scares them will scare us.
@MaryAustinBooks I wish we’d have the same overwhelming response to the next “metro surge” that NYC had to the Knicks win: everyone in the streets! stay out all night! hugging strangers!
@grammasaurus
Well, a lot of that does happen in each city that gets invaded. I watch it on other platforms. It just isn't shown in the media.
@MaryAustinBooks I know there has been a lot of resistance in big cities, but where I live there is much more passivity.

@MaryAustinBooks
It was the stuff going on in Minneapolis last winter that first led me to begin my solo street-corner vigils. I've been going out there with my cardboard sign multiple times a week, whenever I can fit in an hour between work schedule, in single-digit cold and in muggy heat. And what pushed me out there in the first place? Yeah, Minneapolis. Renee Good. Alex Pretti. Julio Sosa-Celis. Chong Ly Thao. Liam Ramos. So many many others.

Reading about them didn't discourage me, but did just the opposite. It's what sent me out there in the first place, and keeps me out there now, months later. You are right, everything that they think is discouragement is actually confirmation of the need, it's exactly what brings more new people into activity.

@CommonSparrow
Good on you!

We could have had the damn revolution by now if the national media outlets weren't full of cowards and traitors.

@MaryAustinBooks
I think in a very real way the thugs lack a theory of mind. They cannot recognize ideas different than their own, and cannot project ideas like “what would I do on their shoes”. They lack the ability because they lie to themselves about everything.

@MaryAustinBooks The key missed concept here is "think".

I'm pretty sure they're not actually doing this.

@MaryAustinBooks

Your Constitution is as weak as Maidens Water.
It does nothing to prevent Trump's worst abuses, and provides no means of holding him to account.
In the current climate it is virtually worthless.

@MaryAustinBooks It's gonna get worse. Way worse. I had an idea though. Anyone active in the trenches might want to start keeping a low profile apple airtag(or comperable) sewn into the lining of a wallet or purse or other item they keep close as a matter of habit. Someone drops off the radar silently, we'll know exactly where they went. The enemy will figure it out eventually of course. But it should work for a while.

From outside the US : Amazing silidarity, take care !
@Jdb_env @alice Thank you. Solidarity from beyond our borders means a lot to us. When things are tense dealing with ICE, I always remember that virtually the entire world is on our side. ❤️
@Scary Austin more solidarity from Europe!
@sophie Thank you for your kind words! ❤️

@MaryAustinBooks

Keep it strong, people. And be strong.

In Argentina we have the CORREPI (commision against police repression) that helps people with attorneys, legal advice, and even habeas corpus if things get awry. Do you have a similar structure there?

@beckermatic
We don't have anything centralized here, but there are a lot of orgs in the protest movement that are doing exactly that! A critical part of the movement is indeed helping immigrants and their defenders get legal representation, and teaching everyone their rights.
