Anthropic having Fable be export controlled is a self-inflicted wound. If you spend a bunch of time telling people how dangerous your technology is, don't be surprised when some of them agree with you.

And try to cause a thermal or ventilation incident on a CEO house.
@malwarejake @briankrebs
I wonder if Matt Blaze is up for putting it on a laptop and trying to travel with it "legally" (like in https://www.mattblaze.org/papers/export.txt)
@malwarejake I bet they were absolutely giddy when this opportunity to grandstand came along.
@malwarejake It only supports their narrative that they are so super advanced. Thus, it actually helps them more than the few lost bucks on a model that isn't anything special.
@malwarejake
It's New Coke all over again.
They'll pretend to change it to satisfy the regulators who will pretend it's changed, and FOMO will drive demand.

They spent so much effort trying to scare the stuffing out of low-information potential investors, they forgot their country is governed by an even lower-information administration.

@malwarejake

@malwarejake @briankrebs i thought that they spent their time telling people that this was the safe model.

they banned the one that was for blue teaming, too!

say nothing of the still-available model that makes child porn.

this is all retaliation because anthropic didn't want claude to kill people without a human in the loop.

@malwarejake "AI must be regulated!" "No, not like that!"
@malwarejake It's really not that dangerous, there's no real decent technical background for that. Please check my article about Mythos which Fable is supposedly based on. https://brutelogic.net/charted/zero-days-zero-truth
Zero Days, Zero Truth

Ten specific claims about Claude Mythos. Primary sources only. The capability is real. The story around it is manufactured.
