@malwarejake I saw someone post a suggestion that this was a cheap way to keep them in the news cycle in a manner that saves them $$$ from burning compute at subsidized prices.

Thus why their major investor, Amazon, helped them achieve this outcome in advance of the IPO later this year.

@securingdev I have heard this speculation as well. But I don't believe it. Anthropic is in the news, sure. But it's in the news in a way that stresses "our total addressable market is much smaller than you might have thought."
