Is the "125 cc" electric motorcycle the answer?

The smaller battery pack, lower power output, and lighter construction also help keep costs under control. LiveWire says the S4 Honcho will start at just $4,999, a figure helped by the bike’s modest size and the company’s manufacturing partnership with KYMCO in Taiwan.

What is a 125cc electric motorcycle and why are they so important right now?

When many riders hear about a new electric motorcycle, they tend to compare it to the flagship machines that dominate...

@Zygos i had a “125cc equivalent” electric motorcycle for a bit. This one looks like it has a bigger battery pack, which may solve the range issue I had. my csc city slicker could rarely exceed 25 miles of range with normal riding. It had a slow charger so it was an 8 hour recharge. They made the battery easy to pick up out of the bike and bring into an apartment, so it might be just right for certain people, but it wasn’t right for me
@Zygos It was a grom clone sorta shape. CSC appears to have quit selling electric stuff these days, but at one point they also had an electric super cub clone that seems pretty great

Did a little searching

"a claimed range of 53 miles overall and 73 miles at a sustained 20 mph. Both versions top out at a claimed 59 mph and a 3-second 0-30 mph time. LiveWire says the bike’s two removable batteries (3.48 kWh total) charge from 20 to 80 percent in two hours using a Type B USA 110-volt charger."

I wonder how bans on charging batteries in apartments (due to fire hazard) is going -

@Zygos that is double the capacity of my old bike, which probably makes it a lot more usable day to day. I assume it won’t be $2500 delivered to your front door like the csc was tho 😔
@Zygos bikes like that are a hoot tho, you can ride it to work each day, pop through a drive thru (very hard on bikes with clutches) and power slide around on wet grass because dropping it isn’t really a big deal most of the time

@timmy

I'd love to get one but I'm worried about my geriatric bone density. But for short trips to Home Depot, Walgreens and the grocery it would be great.
