@robpike If they don't understand why, force them to watch @eevblog Do The Math and tear the concept to shreds.

TL;DW the returned energy is milliwatts, not even enough to start the inverter for useful power.

@robpike They know if they say no, they'll never hold office again.

@robpike

This "sunlight as a service" is a plot point to the worst James Bond movie.

@csstrowbridge @robpike
At least it had Rosamund Pike and the Eden Project.
@robpike I can think of a few ways to handle a trillionaire gone rogue 🪟

@robpike I’ve been a vocal no on many things that still happened. Nuke proliferation. The destruction of society. Trickle-down fantasies. Mechahitler-powered “socials”. Viboslop, way before it wore that skin. The resurrection of nazism (there may be a pattern here). The Macchu Pichu fallacy. “Infinite growth” dogma. Many genocides, including the biggest one of all, the Anthropocene Extinction.

Saying no never stopped anything. “If we just didn’t” is by far less powerful than other mechanisms. Compulsive instant gratification, lazyness in many forms – intellectual, physicsl – and the dishonesty and lack of empathy they carry in win the day.

@robpike

I quite like the approach of making them spend a lot of money to learn the blindingly obvious and then saying no.

@robpike the only place these are appropriate is in Bond films, wielded by the Super Villain. Don't be The Super Villain!
